The Amerikick Little Dragons Program is a program specifically designed for children who range in ages 5 to 7. This special program was developed by our trained staff of professionals to meet their unique needs which include: Self-Discipline, Focus, Attention Span, and Coordination. By teaching enthusiastically and with positive reinforcement, your child will learn and develop skills that will carry over to other areas of their lives.
The class structure is designed to keep your child’s interest, while at the same time learning the values of the Martial Arts. We accomplish this through classroom participation and fun. The curriculum has been designed to be informative, easy, and enjoyable.
We encourage parents to watch class, but it is not necessary. On occasion, we will find that some children are distracted by the presence of their parents; this is normal in the beginning and will eventually dissipate as the children become more comfortable. It is also normal for the children to be shy for the first few classes, after which you will see a gradual improvement of their participation and social skills. Learning to associate and work together with other children is big step for a young child. We only ask for patience.
Working with your child at home is an integral part of their training. It helps them to remember their class material and keeps their interest level high. More importantly is the way you can have a positive effect on your child. 5 to 10 minutes a day of practice is recommended. Be enthusiastic and have lots of patience.
The Little Dragons learn approximately half of what the older kids, (7-12), learn and at a slower pace. It is our intention, and the goal of the Little Dragons Program, to have your child graduate into the regular kids program. The time it takes to graduate varies from child to child. Some may take 6 months, others 11 months. A Little Dragons Blue Belt is equivalent to a regular child’s Orange Belt.
